When you’re fortunate enough to have a client that can afford a 5 agent team, you can assign each agent a specific position. Now, depending on what formation the environment calls for… some shifting will occur. We’ll cover formations in a future training blog.
For now, lets review the basic positions:
(1) The Proximity Agent or Detail Leader
The Proximity Agent or ‘Detail Leader’ walks to the right of the principal. The Detail Leader should be within arms reach of the principal. He/she is responsible for covering and removing the principal in the event of an attack.
(2) The Point Agent
The Point Agent guides the team, blocks and defends against potential threats from the front of the protective formation.
(3) The Flank Agent ( 2 agents… one on each side)
The Flank Agent blocks and defends against potential threats from the sides of the protective formation.
(4) The Rear Agent
The Rear Agent blocks and defends against potential threats from the rear of the protective formation.
That’s all for this lesson… stay safe and have a great week!

fantastic
Thank you!
Great info. Basic but simple and straight forward. Especially the response to Masudi’s question. How do we get additional info that goes a bit further re. the duties and actions/functions of the various positions etc.
Hi Dwayne, there are several books that you should be able to find at a local library under the topic “Executive Protection”. That would be the best free option. If funds permit, you can enroll in our online course.
Take care,
Brian
WONDERFUL LESSON, I LEARNED A LOT!
Thank you Jarvis! Stay safe out there! – Brian
this is clear but is it applicable for a convoy or an house?
No sir. For a home, we’d want to have agents posted at each entrance, the driveway entrance and a roving agent as well.
For a convoy, obviously $$$ will be a factor. A standard 3 vehicle convoy would have a Lead, Main, and Tail vehicle. All drivers should be trained in how to keep intervals, change lanes, etc.
great lesson.Thnks Brian!
You’re very welcome Femi!
Thank you! Simple and clear.
Thanks for the protection position guide which I will use during executive escorts
My pleasure Jerry!
